Technical Information

Are there any particular safety precautions to take when using the Town 9?
You should always wear protective equipment (helmet, knee pads and elbow pads) when scootering. Most serious accidents take place during the first few months of use: Take the time to learn the basics of use to master speed and braking in any emergency situation and whatever the weather conditions (particularly on wet terrain).
How do you fold/unfold the scooter?
Hands-free and in one second! What's the trick? Simply stand opposite your scooter with the frame straight in front of you and press the pedal, and your Town 9 is folded in less time than it takes to read the instructions.
Is the Oxelo Town 9 scooter suited to long journeys around town (2 to 5 km)?
Yes! The rubber grip on the deck and the ultra-comfy ergonomic handles with palm rests help reduce vibrations for a more pleasant ride. The TOWN 9 adult scooter also has a bell so that you can make yourself heard. Last but not least, the handlebar is slightly forward for better steering control.
What is the glide quality like on the Oxelo Town 9?
We have equipped this adult scooter with large 200 mm HIGH BOUNCE PU rubber wheels for high-performance scootering. A large wheel makes it easier to build up speed with minimum effort. The ABEC 7 bearings are very high quality and, by making it easier for you to push yourself along, limit fatigue.
How much does the Town 9 weigh?
6.4 kg making it easy to move in "trolley" mode: fold it up and drag it along like a suitcase.
What is the maximum weight the Town 9 can take?
100 kg.
What safety precautions should you take with the Town 9 scooter?
We recommend checking your scooter before and after each ride to ensure that there is no abnormal play and no cracks or sharp edges.
What should you do if there's play in the handlebar?
What with bumps in the road, repeated jarring and vibrations, it's normal for certain parts to come loose. You can have all of the screws tightened at your local Decathlon workshop or do so yourself with the Allen keys provided (designed to fit all of the scooter's parts).
How are our products tested?
All of our scooters have been lab tested. These tests check compliance with the European standards for scooters, as well as looking for wear. For example, one of our tests involves a machine folding the scooter 10,000 times to check its folding system. As well as lab tests we do field tests - some measured and others based on the testers' opinions - to really put the product through its paces. The result is a tested, proven product.
How should you maintain your scooter?
The wheels and bearings are wearing parts. Remember to check them and change them if necessary. You can repair and extend the lifespan of your scooter with spare parts that can be ordered through your local Decathlon store's Workshop.

Oxelo Town9 - best kick scooter around.
Used for More than 2 years
I purchased my Town 9 circa 2002 from overseas as adult kick scooters were virtually unknown in Australia and therefore unavailable. At the time it was the best I could get and nothing has changed in this regard. After about 4000km on my 15Kn each way commute I handed it to my son and moved to an eScooter due to physical limitations about 3 years ago. My son still riding the Oxelo and I am still commuting on the eTWOW eScooter with well over 4500kms covered. I highly recommend the Town9 for safety, reliability, convenience, fitness and many other technical reasons.
Smooth - Easy to ride. Packs up well.
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
We love this scooter. It's used by a range of different people from adults to children and everyone agrees that it's excellent. Would recommend this scooter.

Town 9 Scooter
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Having lots of fun on this scooter. Moves fast and easy to control. Great for taking to work and heading to the gym.
Very handy little scooter
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I originally wanted an electric one but was convinced to try this one for 1 year (and return it if not liked). I use it to connect between public transport and places I need to go. I love the fact it is very easily foldable, light and stable when riding on road. On the negative point the break doesn’t work if it is raining but you can always use your feet or put your back feet on the back wheel. I am still not sure whether I will upgrade for an electric one as going up hill is tiring but it keeps me fit so will see. It is great to have so many months to make my mind.
Oxelo Town 9
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I imported one of these to NZ as I was unable to find an adult scooter with the features I was after here. I've been using this for a couple of months now and I'm very pleased with it. Smooth and comfortable to ride and mount/dismount (important when there's foot traffic) and easy to fold and carry. Have also had quite a few complements on its smart looks (especially from other envious scooter riders!)
Open close mechanism is instable
Used for 1 week or less
I had a town 7 that worked fine. A few weeks ago I bought the town 9. When the bike is closed, it is instabile and not completly firm/locked. This made marks in the protective plastic on the wheel, since it scrapes against the front wheel. Can I fix this somehow?
EF9 V2
