Not quite up to the job
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I bought this set as I am a novice and thought it would make a good starter set of tools so I could tackle more than just changing a puncture, fitting new cables, etc. So far I have to say I'm not very impressed with the kit as a whole and, in hindsight, I wish I'd just bought better quality individual tools as and when I needed them. The first job I attempted was changing my pedals - the pedal wrench, in my opinion, doesn't give you enough leverage if your pedals are tightly fastened. I had to use the regular 15mm spanner and a gentle nudge with a hammer to loosen my pedals - I have since bought a separate pedal wrench. The bottom bracket tool, which is intended to be used with the 8mm allen key, would be better if you could attach a wrench to it - it has no flats so can only be used with the allen key. My bottom bracket was stuck fast and I could only get it off by regular soakings with gt85 and a separately purchased tool with the ability to attach a wrench. On the plus side, I've used the chain removal tool, crank extractor, chain whip and cassette remover, all with success; so I guess that alone justifies the cost of this kit.

Response of the brand
Dear Sir,
I'm sorry to read that the chain whip broke. I will forward your review on to the product manager at b'Twin.
You can either decide to return the whole set to us for a refund/replacement or we could send you out our award winning chain whip instead:
I look forward to hearing from you.

B-Twin 500 Bike Tool Kit
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
This is a very good starter kit for general cycle maintenance. you have all the tools you need to strip down your wheel hubs, rear cassette and and bottom bracket for a good clean out and re-greasing. you get a good sturdy case to keep your tools in order although it is a little difficult to place them back in their relevant places. Not a major problem though. The only criticism I have is the cone spanners, They could be better quality..... I did a comparison on the tools before I bought this kit to see if it was cheaper to buy them separately and make my own kit up but that was way more expensive. so all in all a bargain hence 5 stars *****
Good Starter kit for general maintenance.
Cone spanners could be better quality
Tool kit for a college novice
I am new to bike maintenance but the tools supplied with this kit seem more than suitable for the maintenance I hope to carry out. Some tools may only shimano compatible.Best to check with the staff. Great piece of kit to start out with.
Strong and sturdy
case is a bit awkward to clip pieces back in
