I have Arpenaz 2XL and I have been using this tent from Aug 2015 till Aug 2018 with rough usage clocking over 150 camp days in this tent during this period. After monsoon season of 2018 my tent elastic cord snapped. I tried every wire possible (electric/copper/aluminium procured from hardware shops) but only this wire worked like a needle and managed to re-thread my poles. Thanks to the Decathlon Noida store staff (the best store in NCR with the most helpful, knowledgeable staff) for the advise & for also letting me borrow the needle as I couldn't afford to buy this whole fibre poles pack just for the needle. Re-threading poles is definitely not the easiest thing, but I managed with the help of YouTube videos on the subject. Also I tore my fly-sheet, but I had a tube of Seam Grip WP (sold on Amazon) which did the job and made my tent as good as new! Decathlon India should think of setting up tent repair workshop in-store for such manageable repairs like pole snapping, cord snapping, fly-sheet tear repairs. It's better for the environment. Don't throw away gear BUT REPAIR. Also bring back old tents like Arpenaz 2XL series.
Has everything you need for a simple repair, although Decathlon only seem to sell this one kit in store. Given that my Quechua tent alone had 2 entirely different sized poles in it (9.5mm & 11mm) you wonder why rhey don't sell these? Are we being discouraged from repairing otherwise perfectly good tents?
Thanks for your time to review the tent pole kit by Quechua. I apologise for the inconvenience caused to you.
To give you a small insight on this product, the poles are made out of fibre glass which is known for its high tensile strength, to keep the tent in dome-shape and withstand the winds on a mountain. At Decathlon, all our products have been tested for usage and quality under two conditions, one in the laboratory and second on the field by users, real time. The pole kit has undergone the same level of tests to ensure the tent passes the entire value promise to our users at the best price possible for our users.
I stay available if you need any further assistance with our products or services in the future.
This is the general replacement kit for the different tents available.
The fibreglass is of average quality and breaks in temperatures around 2 degrees.
Note - The older discontinued tents such as arpanez 3xl which had 3 pole segments [ 2 cross sections] and one from the front [ smaller]
There is no option for repairing or replacing that series. Quechua/Decath does not have the required accessories which is disappointing. The newer tents have bad structural integrity and cannot withstand high winds and fair amount of snow, whereas the older 3xl+ which was good, was discontinued and there is no full pole repair kit available.
