Runners wanting reassurance
A light sleeve can make the knee feel supported on longer runs.
A knee brace can help your knee feel more supported on a run, but it doesn't fix the cause of pain. We'll help you compare the main types, get the fit right and know when to see a physio.
Options from our knee and ankle supports, plus two ranges that go with them.
Seamless knit sleeves for light, even knee support.
Supports with side reinforcements for a firmer feel.
Adjustable straps that sit just below the kneecap.
Higher-level supports with straps for extra hold.
Compression socks and sleeves, including a knee sleeve option.
Proprioceptive knee supports for a light, reassuring feel when you run.
Measure as the product's size guide describes and pick the size it recommends. Our knee supports are sold individually and fit the left or right knee, and most come in several sizes.
Knit sleeves give light, even support, while side reinforcements and straps add a firmer hold. More support isn't always better, so start with what feels comfortable.
A brace supports the knee and can help it feel more stable, but it doesn't treat the cause of pain. If your knee hurts during or after runs, a physio can help work out why.
Look for a support that stays put without slipping or pinching as you run. Non-slip silicone on many of our knee supports helps keep them in place.

If a physio has cleared you to run, a support may help you feel more confident as you build up again.
A patella strap gives localised pressure below the kneecap, which some runners prefer to a full sleeve.
| Option | Feels like | Good to know |
|---|---|---|

| Support with side reinforcements | Firmer and more stable | Check the size guide carefully |
| Patella strap | Targeted pressure below the kneecap | One size, adjustable |
| Higher-level support with straps | Extra hold | Can feel bulkier under tights |
| Compression knee sleeve | Snug, all-round compression | Found in our compression range |
| Kinesiology tape | Flexible strapping | Ask a physio to show you how to apply it |
It depends on why you want one. Many runners wear a light sleeve for comfort or reassurance, and that's fine if it feels good. If your knee is painful, swollen or gives way, see a physio before running on it, because a brace supports the knee but doesn't fix the cause.
A knee sleeve wraps the whole joint and gives even, all-round support. A patella strap is a narrow band that sits below the kneecap and gives localised pressure. Which one suits you depends on where you feel discomfort, so a physio's advice is worth having.
Use the size guide on the product page and measure exactly where it tells you to. A good fit feels snug without pinching, digging in or leaving marks. If you're between sizes or unsure, ask our team in store to help you check the fit.
You can, if it feels comfortable and a health professional hasn't advised otherwise. Some runners keep it for longer runs or hilly routes. If you feel you can't run without it, that's a good time to have your knee checked by a physio.
Running shoes that suit you, a gradual build-up in distance and strength work for your hips and legs all play a part. Some runners also like compression or kinesiology tape. If knee pain keeps coming back, a physio can look at your running and suggest what to change.
