It mostly comes down to the cover. Rubber is the most durable, which suits outdoor courts, while leather and synthetic covers give a better feel on indoor floors. Our indoor-focused balls use polyurethane for that softer touch.
Many of our polyurethane balls are rated for indoor and outdoor use, so the occasional outdoor session is fine. Regular play on bitumen will wear the cover faster, though. If you play outside often, a rubber ball is the better partner.
If you play club or representative basketball, a FIBA-approved ball means you train with the same standard you compete with. For casual indoor games, any good polyurethane ball will do the job. Several of our BT500 and BT900 balls carry FIBA approval.
Always check the pressure marked on the ball by the manufacturer. For our Tarmak balls, we recommend 0.62 bar. A pump with a pressure gauge makes it easy to hit the mark every time.
