Step tees take the guesswork out of tee height while you learn a consistent set-up.
The right tee sets your ball at the height your club needs, shot after shot. We'll help you pick a length and material that suit your driver, your irons and the way you like to play.
Options from our golf tees range, plus a few things that belong in the same pocket.
Bamboo options in tall and shorter lengths.
Stepped tees that set the same height every time.
Tall 70 mm options for teeing up a driver.
Silicone practice tees for hitting off range mats.
Divot tools and ball markers that fit a pocket.
Distance, soft and tour balls, plus practice balls.
Tall tees around 70 mm suit a driver, because its large head needs the ball sitting higher. Shorter tees around 40 to 54 mm suit fairway woods, hybrids and irons. Many golfers carry both so they're ready on every tee.
Step tees have a built-in shoulder, so you push them in until the step meets the ground. That gives you a repeatable height without guessing. They're a handy choice while you're still finding your set-up.
Plastic tees are tough and often survive several shots. Bamboo is a plant-based option, and our 42 mm bamboo tee is made to be as strong as a plastic one. Pick the feel you prefer, then stick with it.
Our tees come in packs of 10, 25 and 100. A bigger pack makes sense if you play or practise every week. Keep a handful in an easy pocket of your golf bag so you're never caught short.

A mix of tall and short tees covers your driver on long holes and your irons on par 3s.
Silicone practice tees sit in range mats so you can hit drivers and woods in your warm-up.
| Option | Best for | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Tall tees (about 70 mm) | Drivers | Tee so roughly half the ball sits above the top of the clubface. |
| Mid tees (about 54 mm) | Woods, hybrids and irons | Our 54 mm tee can also be used with a driver. |
| Short tees (about 42 mm) | Irons, hybrids and fairway woods | Keeps the ball just off the turf for a clean strike. |
| Step tees | Beginners | Push in until the step meets the ground for the same height each time. |
| Practice tees | Driving range mats | Silicone tees in two heights for woods and drivers. |
| Divot tools | Repairing pitch marks | Fix your mark on the green before you putt out. |
With a driver, a common starting point is to tee the ball so about half of it sits above the top of the clubface. With irons and hybrids, the ball only needs to sit just off the grass. Experiment on the range, then use a step tee or a mark on your tee to repeat the height you like.
Most golfers use a tall tee of around 70 mm with a modern driver, because the large clubhead needs the ball sitting higher. Our 40 mm step tee is also designed for drivers and sets the height for you. If you hit lots of shots off the top of the face, try teeing a little lower.
Neither is better for every golfer. Plastic tees are durable and often last several shots, while bamboo is a plant-based option that many golfers like the feel of. Our 42 mm bamboo tee is made to be as strong as a plastic tee, so choose on feel and length first.
You're allowed to use a tee for your first shot on every hole, par 3s included, as long as you play from inside the teeing area. Most golfers use a short tee with irons because it gives a cleaner contact than hitting off the turf. Check your club's local rules if you're unsure about a specific competition.
A dozen or so covers most rounds, with a mix of tall tees for your driver and short tees for irons and hybrids. Tees break and get lost, so it's worth restocking from a bigger pack every few rounds. Store them in an outside pocket so they're easy to reach on the tee.
A good tee is a small thing that makes every first shot feel more settled. Find everything else for your next round in our golf range.
