A swim dress solves the part of a beach day that swimwear alone doesn't. Ours are SPF50+ through the fabric, cut with a zip or tie front so you can get in and out without a struggle, and paired with matching leggings for coverage that stays put in the water. These are made to swim in, not to pull on over something else.
The right material makes a noticeable difference to comfort, especially on warm days. Lightweight, breathable fabrics help keep you cool, while quick-drying materials are a practical choice if you'll be wearing your dress over swimwear or spending time near the water. Choose a fabric that suits how you plan to spend your day.
Coverage
Beach dresses come in a range of lengths and styles to suit different activities and preferences. Longer designs provide extra coverage for sunny days and beach walks, while shorter styles offer greater freedom of movement and help keep you cool. Think about where you'll be wearing your dress and how much coverage you prefer.
Sun Protection
If you'll be spending extended time outdoors, extra coverage can make a noticeable difference. Styles with longer sleeves, higher necklines or UPF-rated fabrics help reduce sun exposure while keeping you comfortable throughout the day. They're especially useful for beach holidays and long afternoons by the water.
Quick-Drying Performance
A beach dress that dries quickly is more comfortable after swimming and easier to wear throughout the day. Fabrics that dry faster are less likely to feel heavy or cling to your skin after getting wet. If you'll be moving between the beach, pool and other activities, this feature is worth considering.
New to beach wear. Your first beach cover-up or swim dress. Something practical that dries fast, looks reasonable, and survives regular washing without problems.
Frequent swimmers. You spend plenty of time at the beach throughout summer and want a beach dress that's quick drying, comfortable and easy to wear from one activity to the next.
Active water lovers. You enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, beach walks and other outdoor activities. A beach dress with quick-drying fabric, good coverage and freedom of movement helps keep you comfortable all day.
Keep your beach dress in good condition
Don't let salt dry into the fabric. Rinse immediately after beach use. Wash in cool water with mild detergent, then air dry flat or hang. Heat from the dryer or hot water can set stains permanently and damage elastic fibres. UV fades colours faster on salt-exposed fabric, so avoid prolonged sun storage. For tough salt stains, soak in cool water with mild detergent before washing normally.

Can I wear a beach dress over my swimwear?
You can, though the styles we stock are swim dresses in their own right, so you don't need separate swimwear underneath. They're SPF50+ and made to be worn in the water. If you'd rather layer over your own swimwear, pick a looser style and expect it to take longer to dry once it's wet.

What fabric is best for hot Australian summers?
Beach dresses offer some protection but aren't a replacement for sunscreen. Look for styles with built-in UPF ratings for better sun protection. Lightweight, loose-fitting dresses provide the best coverage while keeping you cool during extended outdoor time.
Rinse with fresh water after every swim to get the salt or chlorine out, then wash cool with a mild detergent. Skip fabric softener and high heat, both of which break down elastane and shorten the life of the fabric's sun protection. Dry flat in the shade rather than in direct sun.
For Australian sun, a rated synthetic beats a natural fibre. The polyester and elastane blends we use hold an SPF50+ rating, dry quickly and keep their shape when wet. Linen and cotton feel cooler on dry land but sag once wet and carry no measured UV rating, so they suit the walk home more than the swim.
Made for Every Beach Day
More than just a swim cover-up, a beach dress is an easy layer for relaxing by the water and everything that comes afterwards. Whether you're heading to lunch, exploring the coast or enjoying a holiday, the right style helps you stay comfortable throughout the day
