A rubber sole with a herringbone or chevron pattern grips the court when you stop and change direction. Non-marking soles keep indoor floors clean.
Landing from jumps adds up over a game. EVA foam midsoles absorb shock, while advanced shoes add plates for energy return.

Go with your usual size and check there is a good centimetre between your big toe and the end of the shoe. Feet tend to swell slightly during sport, so a snug fit in the store can feel tight by the fourth quarter. Try them with the socks you play in.
It depends on how you play. High and mid-rise shoes wrap more of the ankle and suit players who want a supported feel, while low-rise shoes are lighter for fast, agile movement. Many guards prefer low, while bigger players often go higher.
Several of our shoes, like the Essential 100 and Fast 500, are rated for indoor and outdoor play. Rough outdoor surfaces will wear the outsole faster, so if you play both, a dedicated indoor pair keeps its grip longer. The Canaveral 900 is designed for indoor courts.
Most of our featured models are listed as men's and women's or adult shoes. Check the size guide on each product page to find your fit. Men usually choose their regular shoe size.
Basketball shoes are built for side-to-side movement, jumping and sudden stops, so they have wider grip patterns and more lateral support. Running shoes are designed for forward motion and can roll on sharp cuts. For court sport, a basketball shoe is the safer pick.
